PLAYER START:

It’s a Big World…

Well you’re all grown up now, and as is customary your parents are kicking you out of the nest. They are sending you out into the big bright world, with a small purse of gold intended to give you a room at the inn until you find a job. Once you’re out the door it’s grown up time. You are now free to move about the cabin. Your parents tell you to get a job. You now have the “It’s a Big World…” quest marked on your map.

The first place marked on the map is the Inn, you will want to go there and get a room. once you've done this the innkeeper tells you to go to see the mayor about geting a job in town, the mayor is now marked on your map.

When you get to the mayor’s office you are greeted by the goofy stubby little mayor of the poorest town in the world. The mayor tells you he has several official jobs available and you can choose one or more of these. He tells you to go explore the town and meet the locals while he gathers all the current job info. Marked on your map will be the major areas, the inn, the pub, the warehouse, the local law enforcer, and the farms. When you meet with the innkeeper he welcomes you and offers you a quick job collecting payment from some tenants. When you meet with the barkeep he offers you a drink on the house, and gives you a tip about keeping an open ear and an open mind in the pub. When you meet the quartermaster at the warehouse he offers a few side jobs if you think you can handle dock work. Meeting each of the farmers will open the side quests available from each. When you have met all these targets you can return to the mayor for the job list. If you’ve already met these people you won’t have to again. The jobs are based on your preferred class (combat, collector, or combo). However you will be required to perform one of the available task from each person upon the initial meeting. Once you have done all of this you should have enough experience to have gained a level and the Mayor will now direct you to the "job board" where you are free to choose jobs based on your preferred style. there will also be specific quest available that are harder and specific to a certain discipline set.

The following are available to anyone:

A: “The Hunter”

The eastern woods (howling woods) are infested with so many wolves that the mayor has put a bounty on them. Meeting the quota of wolf pelts gets you the title of “wolfbane” and a lump sum payment. You will be guided to the Howling Woods where you will fight wolves until you have collected the required amount of pelts for the job. There will be bonus awards for meeting above quota. Once you have the pelts you can return to the mayor for your payment. You can always return to the mayor with more pelts as you strive for the higher awards. Once you have met the jobs requirements (20 pelts) you will be given the title of “Wolfbane” and the next quest opens up. If you return with 50 pelts you receive a special wolves paw dagger it has a X% chance of instantly killing a wolf. At 75 pelts you receive a wolf bone whistle that when used summons a pack of wolves that attack everything in the area. At 100 pelts you get the Wolfbane helmet, a wolv skull hat that when worn makes wolves ignore you (now you won’t be attacked by the wolves you summon).

B: “the collector”

The mayor needs help collecting the local “tax” every town is required to contribute food to the kingdom. You need to go to the local farms and collect 10 corn 10 apples 2 sheep 1 cow 5 jugs of milk 10 chicken eggs 2 chickens. Each item on the list is available at the appropriate farm. All the farms are marked on the map and the order in which you visit them is up to you. Each farmer will tell you where to go to collect the target, and will give you a short tutorial on how to collect the target. Once you have collected all the required items and return to the mayor you will receive the title of “gopher” and you will be given the option to gather more for more prizes, including gardening gloves that increase harvesting by X%, and a straw hat that makes you harvest X% faster. All of the items will be brought to the docks where the royal tax collector is waiting for you. Using the “befriend” technique you will need to get the animals to follow you to the crate at the dock.

C: “the strong-arm”

the mayor has been receiving reports of visiting sailors ruffing up the locals and causing trouble at the Mooserear pub. He needs someone who is not afraid of a little contact to investigate the matter. To take up this quest meet with the constable down by the docks. When you talk to the constable he tells you he is strapped for men due to the kingdom calling for soldiers for some damned government matter. He has the runt of the gang restrained and he has identified the rest of the gang, you can either use the descriptions to identify and confront the gang members at the pub and the inn, or you can wait until night and hangout in the pub, and follow them until they start up trouble then confront them. You can try to intimidate or reason or bribe them or beat them or you can just kill them. The constable is happy either way, but the choice will have effects. After you clear all 6 of the gang members out of the town and return to the constable you will receive the title “deputy” and the Constable will have other odd jobs available for you. If Clear the gang out without killing them you will also receive the “Bust Duster” a worn leather duster that increases your intimidation/reasoning skill. If you failed to do this you can always try again by taking another job clearing a criminal out of the city (without killing him)

“Movin on up”

After you have completed one or all of these quests the mayor will tell you, to go and explore the region doing jobs and earning experience, once you have earned enough experience to prove yourself useful you can come see him about more pressing matters.

“Ticks & Leeches”

Part ONE:

When you reach a high enough level to gain some recognition around town, you will randomly be confronted by a boy next time you are in the town he will give you a letter from the mayor. The letter asks you to meet the mayor at midnight down on the docks. At midnight you will find the mayor at the end of the longest pier, he tells you about how a shadow group of powerful mages has been taxing the city’s money, They bully him and extort tons of gold and supplies, this is part of the reason for the city being so poor. He tells you when their local guy comes to make his pick up, he asks you to follow him and try to put an end to this. (once, you have accepted the quest and received all the pertinent information, there will be several ways to complete this task.)

Part TWO:

After completing part one you will return to find that the mayor also has a similar problem with pirates running the docks in a similar fashion you will have many options for obtaining an ends to this quest

Part THREE:

Once again the mayor lets you in on another group taking advantage of the town, a faction of warriors has been taxing food from the farmers, to feed their growing guild of manly men.

“MOVING ON OUT”

When you have finally completed all of the required quests, and returned to the mayor. He will tell you that the next kingdom over, Coh’ Baynia, has requested any and all help that can be spared. He has enlisted you to go and meet with the royal advisor and work for the king. He will give you a medallion signifying your “official Business”. You will now be able to cross over the loch to the rest of the country. And the kingdom of Coh’ Baynia will be marked on your map. You are free to go when you are ready, or you can stay and do side quest or finish up anything you have left before heading out.

As a side note the mayor requests that if you are ever able to bring him some nice clothes from the city he will reward you. This is optional and the bonus is a new title “head gopher” and a discount at the shops in town.

PLAINS:

After you leave the player start region, you are pretty much free to explore, at your own risk, of course. Your main quest will point you toward Coh’ Baynia, but you are free to lollygag. There are some great places to hunt and fish in the immediate area, as well as some fun things to stumble upon. There are plenty of places to harvest, caves to explore and mine. And when you are ready you can tackle the main quest, which from here out becomes increasingly treacherous.

Coh’ Baynia:

“Movin on Out”

The mayor sent you to meet with the royal advisor, to fill a labor gap caused by some royal business. The marker on the map points you to the castle.

before you actually make it to the castle you will be taken on a side track before finally making it back to the kingdom to finish your original task.

When you arrive at the main door to the castle you will be asked for your medallion. After presenting it, the royal advisor (Grand Vizier Grohlan) will come greet you in the grand entrance. He will mark the important locations on your map and direct you to the job board, where several jobs await you. Once you have gained enough experience from doing whichever jobs you choose. The king will meet with you to discuss the future. You may now choose a job or go explore the town.

A: “Royal Investigator”

The kings’ top investigators are out on official business, and he needs someone with a good eye and a strong arm to investigate some local occurrences. Completing all of these investigations will grant you the title of “Sherlock”. There are several cases available to inspect. And you must inspect at least 2 before you take case #4 “murder”.

1) “Night Stalker”

Several women have reported being followed at night, and some seeing someone peeping in their windows at night. Go meet with a few of the witnesses to get a description and an idea of the area this is happening, all three witnesses live in the same vicinity and describe the same dark bearded figure wearing a long coat and a stocking hat. And all of the occurrences took place within minutes of each other at around midnight. Any good investigator would know to stake the area out at night. (You will be prompted to follow them) What you will discover is that these women are also all in the same “nightly profession”. You can follow them until they return to their homes. If you hangout out at the Pennyroyal where the women offer services. You will eventually notice a very nervous bearded man hanging out in the back. And as the last woman leaves he will slowly get up and leave. Follow him to the house of the redheaded woman. Confront him outside the window and he will reveal that he used to have a wife and daughter in this city but abandoned them, 15 years ago. He returned a few days ago and learned that the redheaded woman was his child. And so he has been trying to find a way to meet her. You convince him that you will take care of the matter and tell him to meet you at Pennyroyal at noon the next day. He agrees and leaves. In the morning you will need to meet with the redhead. When you explain the man’s story, she burst into tears and confirms that she was abandoned by her father, and that her mother died of a broken heart a few years later, and she has been forced to work “extra hours” to survive. She agrees to meet her father at noon. It is a tearful reunion between father and daughter. The old man tells her he’s saved a fortune and built a nice home in another zone, and he would like to take her there, she agrees. The old man gives you a nice chunk of change.

On the other hand, if for some reason you kill him on sight you will still succeed the quest, as you removed the prowler, but you won’t get the money or the bittersweet story.

Also you can meet them again when you are in the zone they moved to for another benefit.

2) “Missing more than time”

Another case involves a local man whose wife has gone missing after he confronted another man she had been cavorting with. The other man got very angry and violent and stormed off vowing that it wasn’t over, 3 days later he woke up to an empty bed and there appeared to be a struggle and there was a lot of blood on the floor and walls. The man didn’t know how he could’ve slept through such a violent attack, but he had been drinking late that night. Also of curious note the other man has not been seen since the night before. He was last seen at the U’tero Inn and pub. After some investigation there the barkeep tells you he was staying at the inn. After checking with check in you find out that he checked out early that morning, and another curious note the clerk tells you he left in a carriage and that he thinks he saw a woman inside. He gives you the room key and lets you take a look. You will find a crumpled note from the woman confessing her love and devotion, and their plan to run away to the tropics and live on the beach drinking fancy intoxicating mixtures. Case closed. You inform the husband of all the clues and explain what it points to. He refuses to believe and slams the door on you. Case closed no prize this time.

Also when you get to the tropics you will be able to meet and talk to this couple and they will pay you to keep their location a secret, and the woman gives you her wedding ring, which you can return to the husband for another reward, and as proof that his wife is alive (which is good enough for him).

3) “Who ya gonna call?”

Another case reports a haunting in one room of the U’tero Inn by several guests. The first reports from guests were of items missing from the room in the morning, noises heard, and shadowy figures moving through walls. No one uses the room anymore but almost nightly moans and screams and banging can be heard. Your first order of business is to talk to the attendant at the inn to get more info and also to get the key. You will be sleeping in the room. On the first night in the room you leave some items out as bait. In the morning they are gone. The next night you do the same but this time you stay awake in the bed, no one comes to take items but you do hears sounds and scratching and banging all night. On the third night you put a decoy in the bed and wait in the shadows, around 1am you hear moaning and banging and you see a shadowy figure come straight through the wall. If you startle him he will disappear and you will have to do this again the next night. If you have invisibility use it for this, you need to stay hidden from the shadow in order to follow it. When the shadow heads back the way it came in you follow, what appears to be a fire place is actually a secret door to outside. You follow the shadow to the stables where you discover it’s actually a drunken vagrant stumbling around moaning looking for food and shelter. You report your findings the innkeeper. And in a win-win situation you report the vagrant to the royal guard, he is locked up in a nice cell where he will have food and shelter and the inn can rent out that room again. Case closed. You don’t get a prize but you do get a discount at that inn now.

Once you have met the requirements you can accept the next quest.

4) “Carnal Mustard”

There’s been a murder at the castle, and it’s a real who dunnit. One of the cleaning staff has been found dead at the base of the southeast tower of the castle, in an apparent suicide. The body is still there but it is covered by a sheet. You will need to speak with a maid, the head of staff, the royal vizier, and the guard who discovered the body, before inspecting the tower itself. You can talk to them in any order but you have to talk to all of them to get the key from the guard.

(Spoiler) the maid saw the queen and the vizier in an intimate way. The vizier threw the maid out the window. And to cover it up he writes a “suicide note” the note details that the maid could not go on after her love was rejected by the royal vizier and so she threw herself out the window. This of course is only to corroborate the viziers alibi. During the scuffle and in a rush the queen dropped her broach. This is the biggest clue so far.

Highlight above*

Vizier: When you talk to him about the maid he tells you she was very shy and quiet and weird, but even more so in recent days. He tells you that one evening “why, she even confessed her undying love for me…which I promptly rejected as non sense and told her to take a few days rest”…” you don’t think she….” He says coyly trailing off. He knows little else about her Or anyone for that matter.

Head of Staff (woman): Describes a very happy girl who had a husband and a son in the city. And she spent every weekend with them in fact. When you ask her about the vizier she tells you he goes out of his way to ignore the staff at most cost. When asked about suicide just tells you she personally just doesn’t believe she would do that.

Guard: when you talk to the guard he tells you “he don’t know much about no happy girl or creepy jerk guy” however he does note that she had her shoes on when she jumped and that she had a blunt wound on her head that didn’t quite match with the rest of her wounds. Also some of his men report that the vizier was erratically roaming the grounds that night. If you have talked to everyone else then he gives you the key to the tower and tells you to take a look around. If you have not talked to everyone then he will tell you to question the others for more info and then come back.

TOWER: when you inspect the tower room you will find the “note” on a table. This note matches almost verbatim the viziers’ story. Also on the floor you will find a broach. You will now be prompted to ask about the broach.

Guard: Never seen it

Vizier: “never seen it….oh wait I do believe I’ve seen that tragic young girl wearing it”

Head of Staff: “That’s the Queens!!” “I’ve seen it many times, and so has the vizier, in fact it was a gift to the queen from the vizier himself”

Now you have your prime suspect. You have evidence, witnesses that place the suspect near the scene, motivation now what to do with this information. There are a few options here you could confront the king with the evidence and he would have the royal vizier and the queen executed. You would prevent an overthrow from happening and get justice for all. Or you could confront the vizier or the queen they will both try to convince you to keep their secret in exchange for power and money when they throw the king. You can deliver justice yourself to either the vizier or the queen. Or you can play them against each other and they will kill each other. This choice is a big one and has big effects as far as alignments and morals. You can change a kingdom here. No matter the choice you make you will still be pointed in the same direction along the main quest.

SIDING WITH THE KING:

In this case siding with the king is the most positive thing you can do the king will reward you with gold and access to the store room with items in. you will be famous in that region as a knight of the highest order you will get discounts from shops, and preferred treatment around town. The cheating Queen and the vizier are executed and never heard from again (unless you die and you run into them in LYHMBO). After you have resolved this issue the king tells you he could use your help. He sent a team of investigators to Dockberg to the south; they haven’t been receiving shipments of certain goods. And now his men have not reported back since they made it to Dockberg. The King wants you to go to Dockberg and discover the fate of his crew. He gives you a royal seal that will prove your connection to the royalty.

SIDING WITH THE QUEEN & VIZIER:

Before you go to the king you will be persuaded to side with the queen who offers you riches, and the vizier who offers you power and fame in the kingdom. The Vizier and the Queen plan on over throwing the King and taking over, if you help them you will get what they offer, but your power and fame will come from fear and hatred. If you choose to help them this will impact your overall standing, and the kingdom will be unhappy. When you have resolved this issue the new King Vizier will send you after the investigators the former king sent out.

NIETHER OF THE ABOVE 1:

Alternatively instead of telling the vizier you will consider his proposition (lying). You can tell him you are turning him in and he will attack you, you can kill him and then explain to the king your findings, the king will have the queen locked away and you will pretty much just get the next main quest from the king.

NIETHER OF THE ABOVE 2:

Alternative #2 you can also tell both the vizier and the queen that each is turning the other in. They will both go mad and kill each other. Again you will explain your findings to the king and pretty much get the same as alternative 1.

B) “Royal Materials Expert” (these are for crafters/harvesters)

The kingdom is preparing for something big and the need for raw materials is high. For those looking to do some labor and travel, or just looking to get some extra experience, There are several jobs available if you go speak to the head of the kingdoms resources dept. He can be found in the castle. There will be a list of everyday materials, leather, wool, wood, etc. the kingdom will pay you a small percentage more than retail for these. And you can come anytime to the Head of Resources to turn in any common item you have collected. Also there are special task’s available for the “craftier” adventurer.

1) “Blood Diamonds”

The kingdom is in desperate need of raw diamond, not that fancy pants polished crap, the real deal. There is a raw material cave directly east of the kingdom, it’s located at the base of the mountain, and there will be some low level danger in this cave, perhaps a small den of low level wolv’s . The kingdom needs you to tap out 100lbs of raw diamond, you may need to take a friend, or this could take several trips.

2) “Iron, Man”

There is something big going down, and some major machinary being built. The kingdom is using iron like it was going out of style, which apparently it is, since the discovery of compound metals. Regardless they need 100's of lbs of iron ore and will reward handsomely for it.There is a great iron ore deposit north of the waterfall that lies to the south of the kingdom, this deposit is too hard to get to for a mining operation, but just perfect for the entreprenuor.

3) “The Rock!”

The kingdoms more mystical forces are also in need of raw resources, main among them is Quartz, this crystal is a powerful conductor of magical energies, and they are building a machine that needs tons of quartz.

C) “Lethal Weapon” (these are for the fighters)

The kingdom has had to send many of its best, and in some cases only, men available to help with something going on across the continent. This has left some open spaces in the local law enforcement dept. You can get more information about these jobs from the Head Guard in the castle. If you are looking to deal out some justice, or just gain some more experience the Guard could use your help.

Whatever your decision may be you are now on your way to the next piece of the puzzle, starting with Dockberg, when you are ready to continue the main story. For those who are not quite there yet, there is plenty of activity waiting.
