HaxBall is a soccer simulation with air-hockey physics. It has received widespread adoption, and in fact HaxBall leagues have been created which pit opposing clubs against each other. While immensely popular, the game itself does not seem to be evolving.

I've decided to create a clone which replicates the gameplay experience closely, while adding additional features. These are based on my own experience with HaxBall, and basically reflect what I find lacking:

Persistent profiles: HaxBall does not provide a way to create a persistent player profile: all access is anonymous. This allows players that can only be authenticated in the eyes of other players by the nature of their play. While I am planning to provide anonymous access for casual players as well, I feel more serious players will appreciate a password-protected profile.
Achievements: Players who create persistent profiles can collect badges accumulated from gameplay.
Highlight reels: Players can watch game replays and manage highlight reels of their play under their persistent profiles.
Ratings: Rated rooms may track the ratings of persistent players. This feature could lead to a leaderboard feature where top players can find and challenge each other.
Bots: I'm a bot developer at heart, and HaxBall represents a game that possesses a few desirable features: it is simple at the low level (you're a disk and you can kick a ball that's also a disk) but extremely complex at higher, more abstract levels (I'm a GK and they're attacking in our corner; should I lend my services there on defense or track the attackers who are floating in front of my net?) CHaxBall supports bots.
Rooms: HaxBall rooms are administered by users entirely. This means assigning players to teams, choosing field size, etc. CHaxBall rooms will perform these tasks automatically based on who is present. Furthermore, CHaxBall rooms do not have separate admin/playing views that HaxBall has.
Everyone can macro, no hacks necessary. Just hold down the kick button.
